On Saturday around 3 a.m., members of the Fort Frances OPP responded to an intrusion alarm at the Fort Frances Museum on Scott Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the building had been broken into. A search resulted in a male young offender being arrested.
The accused later was released from police custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 5.
Meanwhile, a 43-year-old Fort Frances man was arrested and charged with impaired driving on Sunday around 1:30 a.m. after he was stopped at a “R.I.D.E.” check on Portage Avenue.
He also faces additional charges of driving with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg, driving while suspended, and driving with liquor readily available.
He was released from police custody and also is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 5.
In other news, OPP officers across Rainy River District actively participated in the nationwide “Operation Impact” over the Thanksgiving weekend.
More than 1,000 vehicles were checked at “R.I.D.E.” programs, with one careless driving charge, 20 speeding charges, and nine hazardous moving violations being issued.
As well, more than 1,200 people were checked at 23 seatbelt initiatives, resulting in 23 warnings and three charges.
