Bryson DeGagne has been named the winner of the “Random Acts of Kindness” contest that took place here last month.
From Feb. 12-21, Community Living Fort Frances and District challenged local residents and businesses to complete random acts of kindness.
The win was announced on Community Living’s Facebook page on March 8.
DeGagne’s mother told her six-year-old son about the contest and said he really wanted to do something special for it.
The youngster decided he wanted to donate money to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
He was inspired by his blind cousin who often deals with the CNIB.
DeGagne understood all of the medical expenses and the trouble of visiting doctors out of town, and wanted to help.
As such, he made a donation in the amount of $50.
The youth was not immediately announced as the winner because Community Living’s board of directors weren’t sure if the act counted.
Once they heard the details, however, they were happy to allow it.
DeGagne received a certificate from the board in recognition of his act.
His mom said the act was entirely his idea and he was very excited to receive the honour.
