X-ray equipment upgraded

Press Release

The Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary recently paid an instalment of $7,500 towards its commitment of $40,000 for updated X-ray equipment at the Emo Health Centre.
This now brings the total raised to more than $13,000.
The existing X-ray equipment has been upgraded to allow for digital processing. The old unit still was processing completed X-rays onto a film, which then, in turn, had to be mailed to the radiologist to be interpreted.
This was a time-consuming process, which also meant the films had to be returned to the health centre to be filed and stored.
The new CR Reader System, with stand and CD burner, now allows the diagnostic imaging personnel in Emo the ability to send the completed X-rays electronically for the radiologist to view almost immediately.
Since the instalment of the equipment on April 27, more than 350 X-rays have been completed at the Emo Health Centre.
The next fundraising activity will be the auxiliary’s annual fall tea on Friday, Oct. 15 at the Emo Legion.
To make a donation to support this new technology at the Emo Health Centre, call auxiliary president Heather Oltsher at 487-2253 or the Riverside Foundation for Health Care at 274-4803.
Donations also may be dropped off at the Emo Health Centre or mailed to 110 Victoria Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 2B7.
