Workshop aimed at seniors’ safety

The Fort Frances Elder Abuse Awareness Committee will be holding a health and safety workshop for seniors at the local Legion on Monday, June 15, which coincides with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
Committee chair Gerri Yerxa said the workshop will address several important health and safety issues local seniors should be aware of.
“I think if we can get some information out there, it helps keep seniors safe,” she remarked.
The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. with a session on safe driving skills, followed by a discussion on medication safety.
After a light lunch, sessions on frauds/scams and safe banking will be held.
Yerxa said the workshop is free of charge, and organizers are hoping for 50-100 people will attend.
She encouraged people to pre-register by calling 274-9712 or 274-1403.
