Summer construction work around town should be wrapped up by mid-October.
Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown told town council Monday night that work is moving along on the sewer and water infrastructure replacement job on Third Street East between Crowe Avenue and Frenette.
All of the sanitary sewer is in the ground and the new watermain is back online.
The concrete work is moving forward, with the sidewalk being installed on the north side of the street.
As well, storm sewer work is being finished off at the intersection of Frenette and Third.
All of the granular ‘B’ material also has been placed on the road up to the Frenette intersection.
Brown said the project tentatively is scheduled to be paved next week, weather permitting.
Meanwhile, storm sewer work at Olde Shambles Road is scheduled to begin next Monday (Sept. 15) and should take about a week to complete.
Elsewhere, storm sewer catch basins and granular ‘A’ material have been installed in the District Social Services Administration Board’s parking lot and is ready for paving.
As well, new culverts and granular ‘A’ material were installed on Frog Creek Road by Aug. 21 and the road was surface-treated Aug. 22.
Work that still has to be done in the coming weeks include five scheduled sanitary manhole repairs, 10 sanitary spot repairs, six hydrant replacements, and six valve replacements.
There also is an unscheduled sanitary manhole replacement on Armit Avenue that will be a bigger job, said Brown.
He added contractor Tom Veert will focus on getting the jobs done before freeze-up, although it’s possible not all the spot repairs will be completed before then.
And over at the new Huffman Court subdivision, work to be done in coming weeks includes curb, gutter, and asphalt work, as well as planting trees and landscaping.
A job also will be done at corner of Second Street East and Mowat Avenue, where improper storm sewer grates were installed.
