A Thunder Bay woman was seriously injured Friday evening when the vehicle she was driving struck a moose, left the roadway, and hit a large rock in the ditch on Highway 11 about 60 km west of Shabaqua, Thunder Bay OPP reported Monday.
The woman, 32, was flown to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre by air ambulance.
Three male passengers inside the vehicle, including an infant, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the collision, which occurred around 7:15 p.m., police noted.
The three, also from Thunder Bay, were transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre by land ambulance.
The Thunder Bay OPP, Atikokan EMS, Atikokan Fire Department, Conmee EMS, and Shebandowan Fire Department all responded to the accident, which continues to be investigated.
