Just after 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Atikokan OPP, fire department, and ambulance services responded to a house fire at 302 MacKenzie Ave. E. in Atikokan.
Investigation revealed one female occupant died in the house fire.
A second occupant was injured in the fire and transported to a Winnipeg hospital in serious condition.
The deceased was identified as Amy Rachel Lee, 31, of Atikokan.
A post-mortem examination was scheduled for yesterday in Toronto.
Officers remain at the scene of the house fire as the investigation is still ongoing.
The Fort Frances OPP will be assisting the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the fire.
