Week raises awareness of mental health

“Face Mental Illness” was chosen as this year’s theme of Mental Illness Awareness Week to raise general awareness of mental illness by showing us human faces of those living with a mental illness.
The hope of the week is to not only raise awareness in our community, but to reduce the stigma and misconceptions. Placemats featuring the stories of people living with a mental illness can be found on McDonald’s serving trays today (Oct. 8).
As well, bookmarks will be given out at the Fort Frances Public Library and the Fort Frances High School Library.
Addressing the issues that concern all of us hopefully will lead to increased prevention, support, and treatment.
