The cost of water and sewer likely will be going up again this year after council votes tonight to approve a report to establish 2013 rates and then a bylaw to impose them.
If the new rates are passed, residential customers will pay a flat rate of $845.53 per year ($70.46 per month) for water and sewer—an increase of $36.41 per year or $3.03 per month.
The flat rate for ICI customers will be $1,062.36 per year ($88.53 per month) for water and sewer, or an increase of $47.16 per year ($3.93 per month).
The volumetric rate for industrial/commercial customers will be $2.46 per cubic metre for water and sewer—a 10.8 percent increase over $2.22 per cubic metre in 2012.
The volumetric rate for institutional customers will be $2.70 per cubic metre for water and sewer—a 14.9 percent increase over $2.35 per cubic metre in 2012.
The public portion of tonight’s meeting is scheduled to start at 5:55 p.m.
Other business on the agenda includes:
•the awarding of Phase II of Tender 12-OF-12 (Second Street East and Mowat Avenue roadway reconstruction);
•a recommendation re: the Rainy River Future Development Corp. per capita request;
•a recommendation re: the Sunset Country Métis outstanding property tax proposal;
•a report re: daycare job title change from private home daycare/Best Start Hub co-ordinator to assistant superintendent/Best Start Hub co-ordinator;
•a recommendation re: Winter Sculpture Garden 2013
•a request for support from the FFHS Chem-Free Grad 2013;
•a letter from Jerry and Diane Darvell re: lane at 626 Church St.;
•a request from the Canadian Red Cross to have March proclaimed as “Red Cross Month” in the Town of Fort Frances;
