Watch for school buses

The new school season began today (Sept. 1) for district students.
As such, the Fort Frances OPP would like to remind motorists that with the start of the new school year, school buses also will be running.
It is an offence to pass a school bus when it is stopped with its lights flashing.
You must stop for the school bus and remain stopped until the lights are no longer flashing—regardless of whether you are overtaking the bus or meeting it from the opposite direction.
The fine for passing a school bus with its lights flashing is $500, including the victim surcharge.
As you are travelling the roads and highways in the Fort Frances area in the days ahead, remember that children excited to be going back to school and seeing their friends may not always pay attention to traffic.
Slow down as you near areas where there are schools, at intersections, and anywhere children might be crossing the road.
Help us to make the start of this school season safe, fun, and exciting for everyone.
