Hunting season has arrived and FireRangers are taking extra caution to wear their orange uniform shirts, and let their presence be known as they work on fires in the wilderness, the Ministry of Natural Resources reported.
Hunters are asked to be alert to firefighting activity as they travel through the forested areas.
They can monitor the fire situation by visiting the website at ontario.ca/forestfire
While out hunting and camping, people also are reminded to keep their campfire and shore lunch fire small, build it on bare rock or dirt, never leave it unattended, and make sure it is dead out before leaving.

Forest fires can be reported by calling 310-FIRE (3473).
Meanwhile, no new fires were reported in the Northwest Region in the last 24 hours as cooler temperatures and drizzling rain continue to keep the hazard “low.”
However, there still are 40 active fires in the region, including nine in Fort Frances District, four in Red Lake District, and 11 in Sioux Lookout District.
No problems are being reported with these fires. Many are being monitored in remote locations and showing no fire activity.
Red Lake Fire #85 does continue to show some smokes.
