Highway 502 was closed early Friday afternoon as a result of a washout 14 km north of Sawbill Lake, the OPP reported.
MTO officials were on site and working to resolve the problem, but were waiting for water levels to recede.
For motorists travelling north from Fort Frances, an alternate route is Highway 71 via Kenora.
Police said they would update the public once the highway has been re-opened to traffic.
