Staff

Walmart Canada is feeling the Christmas spirit, with local staff yesterday donating $770 to the local Salvation Army food bank.
Walmart Canada donated $5 for each person who signed up for a Walmart Rewards MasterCard during a seven-week campaign to fight hunger, which ran from Oct. 21-Dec. 9.
Locally, that means 154 customers signed up during that period.
Nationwide, Walmart Canada donated $876,000 to community food banks thanks to the campaign.
Yesterday also was “Fill-the-Kettle” Day, in which the retail giant agreed to match any donations given to Salvation Army kettles located at Walmarts across Canada.
The Salvation Army’s Christmas kettles will continue to be at various location around town today and tomorrow.
