After the World Fishing Network’s “Ultimate Fishing Town” contest website experienced some technical glitches late last week, organizers were forced to extend the deadline for votes yet again.
After originally being set for Tuesday, Sept. 28, the deadline initially was extended 24 hours to Wednesday, Sept. 29.
The deadline is now Thursday (Sept. 30) at 4 p.m. local time, replenishing the roughly 48 hours of voting time that was lost last week.
As of press time today, Nestor Falls was charging back into contention but still trailed Port Alberni, B.C. by about 300 votes.
Both communities had just passed the 165,000-vote mark.
The winner of the contest is slated to be announced next week.
The winning community will receive a $25,000 donation, as well as have a 30-minute program featuring the town produced by the World Fishing Network.
