As the local July 1 celebrations draw near, organizers are in need of volunteers to make the day a success.
“Everything is coming along,” committee chairman Randy Thoms said about planning so far.
He noted many of the activities have been planned—they just need the bodies to make things happen on July 1 at Pither’s Point Park.
Volunteers are needed to help with set-up for the day, said Thoms, as well as with running the Bingo and children’s activities.
People also are still needed to help with the parade, he added.
“We have a parade, it’s just kind of short right now,” Thoms said.
“We have one or two floats registered.”
Amongst many ideas and plans they have for the day, organizers are hoping to have an information booth/lost and found set up.
“We can do anything as long as we have the bodies in place!” Thoms stressed.
For High School students, volunteering on Canada Day counts towards the community hours they need to graduate.
