Visitor restrictions lifted at Rainycrest

The Northwestern Health Unit lifted the visitor restriction at Rainycrest Home for the Aged here yesterday.
The restriction had been in place since Feb. 21 due to an outbreak of an upper respiratory virus which affected more than 60 residents and 18 staff.
Family and friends are now welcome to visit Rainycrest, though keeping the health of residents in mind. The home requests that visitors do not visit if they are not feeling well.
Health officials suggest the best way to prevent the spread of respiratory infections is through frequent and thorough hand-washing.
Anyone with symptoms, such as a cough or fever, should stay at home to avoid spreading the disease.
Visitor restrictions will remain in place at La Verendrye Hospital and the Emo and Rainy River Health Centres until further notice.
