They’re one of the hottest tickets in town.
With a week-and-a-half still to go before the famous VALA Follies hit the Townshend Theatre stage on Feb. 10, only about 100 tickets are available for the 7 p.m. performance and just a few more than that for the 2 p.m. matinee.
“We will be holding a few tickets for sale at the Townshend Theatre the night of the show for outside quests and last-minute people,” noted organizer Barb Duguay (a.k.a. Babs Spielberg).
The third-annual show—this year entitled “Las Vegas Legends”—not only will feature the Follies, but also some of Sin City’s most famous performers, including Patsy Cline, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton, Madonna, Celine Dion, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis.
Duguay said once the audience “flies” into the Las Vegas airport, they will be off on a a tour bus going around the city visiting different casino and seeing different shows.
Melissa Ethridge, Judy Garland, June Carter, Johnny Cash, and the Belushi Brothers also are set to perform, as well as some local groups.
A group of 12 women from Energy Fitness—known as the “Chippengals” for the show—will present one of their dance numbers from the striptease class.
The “Dancemaker Divas” also will be back, along with “The Walkettes” and Bing Crosby, who are doing an Irish number.
Kim Redford, or “Princess Stephanee,” noted the audience also should watch out for “Mrs. T” throughout the show.
“She knows more than she should and seems to be everywhere,” Redford hinted. “It’ll be quite the entertaining ride.”
In addition to the on-stage numbers, the intermission also will be jam-packed with activity.
There will be a garage sale (donated items are appreciated), a coffee and pie sale, quilt raffle, Scholastic book fair, and a photographer to take pictures of audience members with “the Legends.”
Tickets for the shows are on sale now at Betty’s and the VALA office (608 Scott St.) The cost is $12 for the matinee and $15 for the evening performance.
Children 12 and under pay $8 for both shows.
“We’ve got a lot of talented people involved and I’m sure everyone will be impressed with the line-up,” Redford enthused.
“Anyone who like the previous shows will like this one because we’ve kept the feeling the same—fun and energetic,” she added.
