Wendy Brunetta and Harold Huntley both filed their nomination papers yesterday to run for town council in the Oct. 27 municipal election.
Incumbents John Albanese, Doug Kitowski, Ken Perry, and Paul Ryan are seeking re-election.
Also running for the six seats up for grabs are newcomers Dan Belluz, June Caul, Eric Fagerdahl, Jennifer Greenhalgh, Ed Haglund, Jennifer Horton, Joe Kneisz, Scott Krienke-Turvey, and Charleen Mallory.
Mayor Roy Avis and Coun. Andrew Hallikas are vying for the mayor’s chair.
On the education front, three candidates—David Kircher, Raymond Roy, and Stephen Sinclair—are running for the two Fort Frances trustee seats on the Rainy River District School Board.
Meanwhile, Northwest Catholic District School Board chair Anne-Marie Fitzgerald has joined Bob Grynol in running for the two Fort Frances seats on the local separate school board.
As well, Jack Steinke has filed to be the Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board rep for Rainy River Central.
Candidates must submit their nomination to the town clerk by 2 p.m. this Friday (Sept. 12).
Mail-in ballots will be sent out to voters the week of Oct. 6.
