Those looking for the Valley Diabetes Education Centre and Riverside Community Counselling Services won’t find them where they were before the Christmas holidays as both have relocated to new digs.
The pair of services now are located at 206 Victoria Ave.—the old St. Mary’s parish rectory— across from the ambulance ramp at La Verendrye Hospital.
Riverside Community Counselling’s first day there is today while Valley Diabetes has been there for about a week.
The St. Mary’s parish rectory was purchased by Riverside early last year to be turned into additional space to house the relocated Riverside Community Counselling and Valley Diabetes Education Centre.
The first stage of the Phase IV renovations at La Verendrye is the expansion of the parking lot to make room for employee, visitor, and contractor vehicles, as well as a structural expansion of the hospital to the south.
This means the Riverside Community Counselling and Valley Diabetes Education Centre buildings formerly located to the east of the hospital have to be removed.
Work on the rectory began back in April.
The renovations entailed adding fire doors, fire exits, a handicapaccessible washroom, and handicap access, plus cosmetic changes like flooring and new paint on the ceiling and walls.
St. Mary’s parish will continue to occupy four offices and a reception area on the upper floor of the north side of the building.
