Two convenience stores robbed

Fort Frances OPP officers are investigating a pair of robberies Saturday at local convenience stores.
At 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, police said a suspect entered Franko’s Grocery, located at 252 Sixth St. E., and demanded money from an employee.
But no money was obtained and the suspect left the store on foot, police added.
The suspect was described as wearing a black balaclava, black hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants.
Then around 7 p.m., a male suspect of similar description entered Sparky’s Confectionary, located at 508 Second St. E., brandished a handgun, and demanded money from the cash register.
The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled the store on foot, police said.
Anyone with information regarding these crimes, or who may have been in the area of the two businesses Saturday evening, is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
The East End Confectionery was robbed at gunpoint earlier this fall.
