‘TV Tunes’ revue opens tonight

After two months preparing for the big night, the curtain rises on the Fort Frances High School musical revue tonight.
The revue, entitled “TV Tunes,” runs tonight until Friday at 8 p.m. in
the Townshend Theatre. And John Dutton, one of the musical directors, has been very pleased with the progress so far.
“Everyone has been working very hard,” he enthused. “Right now we’re just getting the last details in place.”
The process of getting the show ready has been very much a team effort. With a myriad of chorus numbers, the entire cast has been working together for most of the time.
“For most of the rehearsals, we have been working on the chorus numbers only,” said Dutton. “The soloists took recordings of their songs and learned them on their own.
“And now that we have everything in order, it sounds great.”
As well as adding the soloists to the mix, the six-person orchestra also has been practising with the cast for the last few rehearsals.
But the team effort extends much further than just the cast and orchestra.
“We’ve had a number of people, including staff and students, who have volunteered their time,” said Dutton.
Some of the Fort High staff who have helped put the show together include Dutton, Chris Denby, and Rob Roy Donaldson, who will all play in the pit, and Sherree Martin, who has worked on choreography along with Borka Gauthier.
Martin and Gauthier run the Fort Dance Studio here together.
“It’s going to be just a great show,” said Dutton. “We’re doing tunes from the 60s all the way to the 90s.
“We have themes from the cartoons we grew up and shows we watch now so this is really going to be a show for the whole family!” he enthused.
