‘Tugnut’ to perform tonight

“Tugnut” is on tour and will be performing one show only here in town tonight at the UMAYC (corner of Mowat Avenue and First Street East).
Featuring Rainy River District natives Steve Vargas and Joe Egan, along with their bassist from Mississauga, the band currently is on its “Ode to North America” tour.
They spent most of August performing in the United States, including Florida, Mississippi, Texas, Arizona, and California.
They are on their way back to their base of Cambridge from British Columbia.
While in the States, Vargas said they saw evidence of the devastating hurricanes that hit the Gulf Coast last year.
“In Mississippi we saw first-hand the damage it caused,” he remarked. “It was amazing to see how filthy it still is. It was crazy.”
“Tugnut” last played in Fort Frances back in November. Later this week they will perform in Minneapolis and Thunder Bay.
Vargas described the band’s sound as “experimental metal.”
The show begins at 7 p.m. with three opening acts—Jordan MacDonald, an acoustic performer from Kenora, as well as local bands “The Local Degenerates” and “Dynocore.”
“Tugnut” is expected to take the stage around 9 p.m. Tickets cost $7 each at the door.
