Trucks should stick to Second Street: town

Due to construction at Central Avenue, as well as activity at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship and Abitibi biomass boiler sites, the town is asking transport trucks coming through here to stick to Second Street East until July 31.
“I want to divert all through traffic down Second Street. What’s happened is we’re having problems at Mowat and Scott—you can’t turn there,” Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown said Friday afternoon, referring specifically to truck traffic, not all vehicles.
“With the construction and the tent, we don’t have the radiuses to turn these big transports without jumping up on the sidewalk,” he added.
“The border traffic is still going to have to take First Street East and take Mowat; they can turn that way easier,” noted Brown. “But when you come up Scott from the east, you have a hard time turning up Mowat.”
He added July 31 is the key date as after that time, the bass tent will be down and truck traffic can return to normal along Front Street.
