Trucker charged

the OPP

On Saturday (Feb. 26) around 10:20 a.m., Rainy River District OPP officers responded to the intersection of Scott Street and Central Avenue following the report of a commercial tractor-trailer losing a partial load of pulp logs onto the roadway.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed a partly-loaded tractor-trailer unit loaded with eight-foot pulp logs and several pieces of logs scattered at the intersection.
Investigation revealed the driver of the tractor-trailer had been travelling south on Central Avenue, then turning east onto Scott Street, when the partial load spilled onto the roadway.
The OPP closed the section of the roadway to traffic, with the Town of Fort Frances supplying barricades to block off traffic access to the area.
A local company was summoned to the scene to clean up the spilled logs.
The roadway was shut down for roughly two hours and re-opened at 12:40 p.m.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
The driver was charged for having a commercial motor vehicle with an insecure load.
