Truck hits hydro pole

Fort Frances OPP are investigating a single-vehicle accident that occurred here early Friday morning.
Shortly before 3 a.m., the driver of a westbound pickup truck lost control of his vehicle, mounted the curb, and struck a hydro pole on the 100 block of Third Street West.
The driver and his female passenger were not injured, but the pole was snapped off about one metre above the ground.
Fort Frances Power Corp. personnel were dispatched around 3:30 a.m. and discovered the pole still standing—with the overhead wires still attached.
Apparently, the pole came straight down after being severed at the base and the wires held it upright. Consequently, no power disruption occurred as a result of the impact.
Police said they’re continuing their investigation into the accident.
