Tonight’s council meeting will include a public meeting regarding a proposed zoning bylaw amendment at 505 McIrvine Rd. (Peterbilt Fort Frances).
The property currently is zoned Highway Commercial (C3), but parent company Thunder Bay Trucking Centre Holdings has applied to have it changed in order to add a key/cardlock/bulk fuel depot as a permitted use.
This addition will allow truckers to fuel up at Peterbilt Fort Frances.
The public portion of tonight’s meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet in-camera first at 5:30.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•a report regarding Joint Emergency Preparedness Program funding;
•a recommendation in response to a request from Borderland Roller Derby;
•an RFP for a contractor to install solar panels on town buildings;
•a report regarding the development of the second stage of the Kaitlyn Drive subdivision;
•a recommendation in response to a financial request for the RBC golf tournament;
•recommendations in response to the Canada Day Celebration Committee requests;
•the 2011 BIA budget;
•a report regarding the Rainy Lake Hotel building;
•purchase card expense, and travel and per diem claims for Mayor Roy Avis;
•a tender for town vehicles;
•a bylaw to authorize the levying and collection of a special charge of taxes upon the Business Improvement Area;
•a bylaw to establish a percentage by which tax decreases are limited in 2011 to properties in the commercial, industrial, and multi-residential property classes;
•a bylaw to approve an agreement with Bearskin Lake Air Service LP for the collection of passenger fees;
•a request regarding representation on the NOMA Air Advisory Panel;
•an invitation from the Northwestern Ontario Joint Task Force to attend a regional economic development planning summit June 13-14 in Thunder Bay; and
•a request from the Assisted Living Action Group regarding assisted living in Fort Frances.
