‘Tree of Life’ campaign underway

Press Release

Shoppers Drug Mart’s “Tree of Life” campaign is underway again this year and runs until Oct. 16.
This year, the team at the local store once again has chosen the Riverside Foundation for Health Care as the 2009 “Tree of Life” beneficiary.
“We want to support women’s health this year and the Riverside Breast Health Program seemed to be a great fit,” said Kevin Nielson, who is the owner of Shoppers Drug Mart in Fort Frances.
The “Tree of Life” campaign is a community fundraiser where shoppers are asked to purchase a “leaf” for a loonie, a “maple leaf” for $5, or an “apple” for $50.
Each time you contribute, you can personalize a ”leaf” to be placed on a branch of the “Tree of Life,” which is prominently displayed on the front window at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Online contributions can be made by visiting www.shoppersdrugmart.ca
Last year, the local team at Shoppers Drug Mart raised $1,667, ranking them fifth in Canada for their fundraising efforts.
Nielson then matched the funds for a total contribution of $3,335, which was put toward the much-needed tubs and lift chairs for Rainycrest Long-Term Care here.
“This campaign really demonstrates the difference we can make when partnering together for a common goal, and we thank Shoppers Drug Mart, their employees, and their customers for helping us improve health care in the Rainy River District,” said Foundation director Teresa Hazel.
Please lend your support by saying “yes” when asked if you would to buy a leaf, maple leaf, or an apple for the “Tree of Life” campaign.
Help make a difference—one leaf at a time.
