The Treasure Chest here is closing nearly a week early due to lack of stock, said Laureen Vandetti with Community Living Fort Frances.
“There isn’t enough left to be worth paying the staff for,” she remarked.
The Community Living-run consignment store had been slated to close next Friday (Aug. 28) after six weeks of bigger and bigger sales.
The week of Aug. 24-28 was supposed to be a give-away week, with all remaining stock available for “100 percent off.”
Instead, Vandetti said the store is closing its doors today around 5 p.m., with all stock being 90 percent off.
Vandetti noted Community Living will be turning the space into offices for its staff.
