(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On April 8, at approximately 8:50 p.m. an officer from the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on the 300 Block of Nelson Street, in the Town of Fort Frances. While speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests, As a result a 44 year old Pawitik man has been charged with: Operation while impaired – alcohol or drug, Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and Drive while under Suspension. The accused was also issued several Provincial Offences notices. The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.
