Christmas will come early this year. At least, it will be for those who attend the 14th-annual Chamber of Commerce trade show Sept. 21-22 at the Memorial Sports Centre.
“We really haven’t had a theme for any of the trade shows in the past. It’s a focus for the weekend,” said Chamber co-ordinator Dawn Booth. “And it gives the exhibitors something to plan for.”
She noted people should expect to see Christmas decorations adorning the arena while holiday music plays in the background, creating a festive atmosphere.
“And Santa may even make an appearance,” hinted Booth.
While details are still being worked out, this year’s trade show will include more than 60 exhibitors for people to visit.
“There will be things going on all weekend long,” said Booth, adding a beer garden will be open upstairs in the arena.
The trade show will run from noon to 9 p.m. on the Friday and again Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Exhibitor packages recently were mailed out to more than 300 businesses, and the trade show committee is expecting to sell out early again this year.
“We have a few booths booked already and lots of phone calls inquiring about it,” said Booth. “The majority of the time, we have an even split between local and regional exhibitors from Kenora, Dryden, Thunder Bay, and Manitoba.”
Businesses that register before July 20 will receive a discount, and those that book two booths get the second one for half price.
