Fort Frances Town council has approved the timetable for planning out the 2012 budget, which includes a public input meeting slated for the Sept. 26, to be held in conjunction with the regular council meeting that evening.
“That’s a pretty important night,” said Town CAO, Mark McCaig, during Monday evening’s council. “It gives people from the public the opportunity to come forward with some items that they believe that we should take into consideration during our deliberations,” he added.
Those interested in making a presentation to council on the budget are asked to contact either Lori Pattison or Kathy Lawson at the Civic Centre, McCaig said.
However, citizens wishing to make a presentation at that meeting are requested to register prior to Thursday, Sept. 22.
Following the public meeting, the approved time table has executive committees reviewing division budgets and recommendations, consolidation of the budget, a review by administration and the committee of the whole is set to receive a preliminary budget on Jan. 9, 2012.
The budget will be then reviewed in the months to follow by administration and a special committee of the whole, with it put to council on April 9 for ratification.
A second public meeting is lined up for April 23, with the 2012 budget anticipated to be passed by council on May 14.
