Town seeking funds for Sunny Cove repairs

The town will be submitting an grant application to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for funds to make Sunny Cove Camp renovations.
Council is expected to authorize a report to give the application the go-ahead at tonight’s regular meeting.
The application is for $76,300 for remedial repairs to Russell Hall.
The need for these repairs was identified by Chief Building Official Rick Hallam, who has completed drawings and specifications necessary for the work.
If the grant is approved, the repairs will be completed this fall.
Tonight’s council meeting is slated to start at 6:05 p.m. at the Civic Centre.
The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:45 p.m.
Other business on the agenda includes:
•an appointment to the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre board;
•a report re: request for input to the OPP Rainy River District 2012-13 Business Plan;
•a recommendation re: Union Gas’ proposal for a “Helping Hands” project.
•a recommendation re: Alzheimer Society’s charitable “Spring Reflections” request;
•a report re: Fort Frances Sustainability Strategic Steering Committee;
•a report regarding the 2010 surplus;
•a bylaw to impose water and sewer user fees in 2012; and
•a bylaw to approve an agreement with the Canadian Red Cross Society for Disaster Relief Services.
