Town, RRFDC earn recognition

The Town of Fort Frances and the Rainy River Future Development Corp. received the following awards at the Economic Developers Council of Ontario Awards of Excellence on Feb. 7 in Toronto:
•Branding: Promotional Awards for “Fort Frances Boundless” (recipient Town of Fort Frances);
•Physical Infrastructure and Redevelopment Initiatives: Planning & Building Initiatives for “Rainy Lake Square” (recipient Town of Fort Frances); and
•Public-Private Partnership: Collaboration & Partnership Awards for “Go Local Fort Frances” (recipient RRFDC).
Each award was received under the 0-10,000 population category.
“[The branding] is well done . . . videos were great,” was the EDCO’s feedback on Fort Frances Boundless.
“Well-explained strategy . . . consistency across various elements,” it noted.
“Effective rebranding. Both raw and inspiring.”
As for the Rainy Lake Square, the EDCO said, “Designs were very impressive. Turned liability into asset.”
And for the Go Local Fort Frances program, the EDCO noted, “Great job! A great initiative with minimal materials, costs, and positive payback to date.”
“The Economic Development Committee and the RRFDC have worked very hard to find opportunities for our community during these challenging times,” noted Fort Frances Mayor Roy Avis.
