The Riverside Foundation’s Care Close to Home campaign has received a $100,000 commitment from the Town of Fort Frances.
“The council decided to give $100,000 and look at it again next year,” said Coun. Struchan Gilson this morning.
The Care Close to Home campaign had requested a contribution of $500,000 over five years.
“I think that that is the amount, annually, that the hospital foundation is looking for,” said Coun. Deane Cunningham.
The town avoided a five-year commitment, leaving it up to the next council to decide it more pledges will be made.
“I guess the hospital can approach next year’s council for further contribution,” suggested Coun. Cunningham.
Cunningham also pointed out that as this year’s council begins the 2001 budget process, additional funding for the campaign can be considered.
“The town’s participation is extremely important,” said John McTaggart, chair of the Care Close to Home Campaign. “We’re very pleased with their contribution and they’ve left the door open for contributions next year and the years beyond.”
