Town council has a full agenda for its regular meeting tonight, including a trio of presentations to receive and seven bylaws up for vote.
Council is scheduled to hear an activities report from economic development advisor Geoff Gillon for the first quarter of 2010, as well as a presentation by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) regarding its 2009 year-end report on operations at the water treatment plant here.
Meanwhile, “Fun in the Sun” committee member Scott Turvey will speak to council regarding this year’s celebrations, and ask for its support of the festivities.
Council also will vote on seven bylaws, including:
•to authorize an amendment to an agreement for sale of certain land to Daryl’s Custom Landscapes;
•to amend a bylaw to assume, stop up, and close, for the purpose of selling, part of a north-south lane south of Fifth Street East, north of the CN right-of-way between Portage Avenue and McKenzie Avenue;
•to stop up and close, for the purpose of selling, part of McKenzie Avenue North, south of Fifth Street East and north of the CN right-of-way;
•to authorize a licence agreement, for the purposes of utilization of the town’s geospatial data, with Centra Transmission Holdings Inc.;
•to regulate the erection of signs and other advertising devices in the Town of Fort Frances;
•to authorize entering into an agreement with Union Gas granting an easement over certain municipal land; and
•to approve agreements with Comprint Systems Inc. and Dominion Voting Systems for the purposes of the 2010 municipal election.
The public portion of tonight’s meeting is scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet in-camera first at 5:30.
Other business on the agenda includes:
•an adjustment to aviation fuel pump prices at the airport;
•a report on a wildlife management plan at the airport;
•a report on safety issues at the parking lot adjacent to St. Mary’s Church;
•a report on auditorium rental fees for the FFHS “Chem-Free” grad party;
•an encroachment agreement for the Church of the Holy Spirit (824 Victoria Ave.);
•a report on 2010 per capita funding for Rainy River Future Development Corp.;
•information from OPSEU re: MPAC service quality issues;
•a building update regarding the new Fort Frances Public Library and Technology Centre;
•reports regarding tonnage at the landfill site, and fuel sales and landings at the Fort Frances Airport;
•a report regarding the final date for passing or amending a bylaw to place a question on the ballot in the 2010 municipal election;
•a request from Rainy River District Victims Services Program to proclaim April 18-24 as “National Victims of Crime Awareness Week”;
•a request from the Murry Snider Repair Shop (1201 Scott St.) regarding a backflow prevention device; and
•a request from the Community Garden Team regarding use of municipal property to develop a community garden.
