The online contest to determine Canada’s “Ultimate Fishing Town” is underway once again—and Fort Frances is in the running.
Fort Frances is competing against other communities across Canada to win $25,000, bragging rights, and have a television feature about it produced on the World Fishing Network.
Nestor Falls and Atikokan are two other district communities vying for the title of “Ultimate Fishing Town.”
Other regional communities, including Sioux Narrows, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, Dryden, Kenora, Thunder Bay, and Red Lake, also are in the running.

Fort Frances had 20 votes as of press time today. Hastings, Ont. topped the leaderboard, with 722 votes at last report.
You can vote four times every 24 hours, and get bonus votes by posting about the contest on Facebook and Twitter, as well as by adding business listings or referring the contest to up to six friends.
Voting began May 1 and will close on May 31.
At the end of the public voting period, the town with the highest number of votes will be crowned WFN’s “Ultimate Fishing Town,” although a winner will not be made official until WFN has reviewed all of the votes received for authenticity.
WFN will announce the winning town on or about June 6 on the www.wfnfishingtown.com site.
The top 3 towns will be awarded prize money. The second-place town will receive $5,000 and the one that finishes third will receive $2,500.
These prizes are awarded based on the total votes received during the public voting round.
There also are affiliate/other prizes available to be won.
