Tower move set to get started next week

The relocation of the lookout tower from Pither’s Point to the waterfront by the Sorting Gap is scheduled to start next week.
A Tom Jones Corp. representative said this morning the components of the newly-painted tower will be loaded up and transported to the site, located just east of the Sorting Gap Marina, starting next week.
The bottom part (the first 25 feet) of the structure will be re-assembled at the site. Then, new steel will be added to the tower and crews will build a platform.
Following this, the rest of the tower, including the top observation area, will be re-assembled.
The whole process should take a few weeks.
Due to some incorrect information given to the Times, it was reported in yesterday’s Daily Bulletin that the move would start this week.
