The Fort Frances Tourist Information Centre is set to open this Friday (May 19)–just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend.
To celebrate, the centre will host an open house on Friday starting at 10:30 a.m.
Visitors are invited to check out what the Tourist Centre has to offer, browse the exhibits and enjoy a cup of coffee and a snack.
The resident moose will be camera ready, so please, feel free to take a photo with him.
Admission is free and visitors are encouraged to stop by throughout the day.
The Tourist Information Centre will be open to the public seven days a week.
Its May and June hours will be:
•Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.;
•Friday: 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and
•Saturday-Sunday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
This will be the final summer the centre will be operated by the town.
Back in February, council decide to cancel its lease with the province.
The province charges a lease rate to occupy the building and for the last couple of years, that cost has been shared with the Sunset Country Tourism Association.
But that grant no longer is available, which left council with the decision to stay and pay the full share of leasing the location or cancelling its lease.
