Ontario Travel Information Centres across the province will be celebrating Tourism Week on June 1-7 this year.
“It’s a kick-off to the summer,” said Bev Noga, team leader for the northwest region centres.
And with the recent opening of walleye season in Ontario, Noga said this is “good timing” for Tourism Week.
The tourist centre here will be holding an open house next Friday (June 5) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
There will be free cake and coffee available, as well as publications covering everything from the new provincial park guide and the new “My Ontario” magazine.
Several displays also will be set up on tourism-related business and events. Anyone wanting to put up a display—for the entire week or just part of it—should contact Noga at 274-7566.
Additionally, throughout the week, visitors to the centre will be able to fill out ballots for a province-wide draw that will be taking place June 15.
The four prizes up for grabs include a family vacation to Niagara Falls, with breakfast at the revolving dining room atop the Skylon Tower, and a family vacation to the Bayview Wildwood Resort in Port Stanton.
In related news, the tourist information centre here is now selling fishing licences to everyone, including residents.
Last year it sold only non-resident licences.
