Press Release
It was determined at the “Tour de Fort” annual general meeting last night that if membership doesn’t increase by at least 125 by Sept. 14, this will be the entertainment series’ last season.
Past-president Kerry Zucchiatti explained that although the 18th season will continue as planned, there is not enough funds already in place to book performers for the 2011/12 season.
“The organization depends almost entirely on the support of the community with season passports sales,” she explained.
“Despite a huge effort to promote the series, it seems that interest has seriously waned.
“Without those support dollars, we simply cannot enter into contracts in good faith,” Zucchiatti stressed.
The all-volunteer non-profit organization is now conducting a massive phone campaign in a last-ditch effort to ensure “tour de Fort” can go on.
Members are urged to purchase passports now at Shoppers Drug Mart or the Fort Frances Public Library.
