Canadian pop music veteran Sass Jordan has cancelled her planned appearance as the opening act for this year’s Tour de Fort concert series due to health concerns.
Concert organizers announced the cancellation of Jordan’s scheduled Sept. 16 performance in a press release Tuesday morning.
Jordan’s team said in a statement that the Montreal‑raised singer has cancelled her scheduled dates for the rest of 2026. She had also been scheduled to play at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium and the Dryden Entertainment Series.
“Unfortunately, due to a serious medical condition, Sass is currently unable to perform and has been advised to step away from all professional commitments for the remainder of 2026 to focus on her health and recovery,” the statement read.
“As a result, we regret that we need to cancel her remaining scheduled performances for this year. Sass is very sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause and greatly appreciates your understanding under these circumstances. Thank you for your patience and consideration.”
The nature of Jordan’s illness was not disclosed.

Jordan, a who found early success with the 1998 Tell Somebody, followed by the landmark albums Racine and Rats, won a Juno Award, landed multiple Canadian hit singles, duetted with Joe Cocker on The Bodyguard soundtrack and later became widely known as a judge on Canadian Idol. She has continued to record and tour as one of Canada’s most durable and influential rock vocalists.
Tour de Fort programming director John Payne said the board is seeking an alternative performance to fill out the season lineup.
“We are currently working with booking agents and the other communities to find a comparable show to fill out our season,” Payne said. “We are very disappointed that we could not present this show, and wish Sass a full and speedy recovery.”
In the release, Tour de Fort reaffirmed its commitment to bringing high-quality Canadian performances to the Rainy River District.
“As always, we remain committed to bringing exceptional Canadian artists and live entertainment to our audiences,” the release said. “We look forward to sharing details of the new performance once confirmed.”
The release noted that season passports will be available for pickup at the Oct. 5 concert which will feature Maggie’s Wake.
