With “Tour de Fort” already looking ahead to its 2017-18 season, the non-profit group is asking town council for a reduction in its rental fees for the Townshend Theatre.
“We would like to invite the Town of Fort Frances to become an in-kind sponsor of ‘Tour de Fort’ through a reduction of the rental fees for the Townshend Theatre,” sponsorship co-ordinator Lisa Brockie wrote in a letter to council.
“Support from our sponsors is critical to the ongoing success of the series, allowing us to keep passport prices affordable and accessible to the widest possible audience,” she noted.
As a sponsor, the Town of Fort Frances would be acknowledged during the introduction of each of the six performances of the series, and its logo or name included on printed materials, the “Tour de Fort” website, and the pre-show slideshow.
The town also would receive tickets to each performance and exclusive invitations to the post-show receptions to meet the artists.
“Tour de Fort” is excited about its upcoming season, which will feature Glass Tiger, “The Way We Feel” (a concert celebration of the songs of Gordon Lightfoot), Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar, The Fugitives, and Dirty Dishes.
There also will be a special presentation of “The Prisoner of Tehran” by the MOTUS 0 Dance Theatre.
The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:30 p.m., but will go in-camera for an indefinite length of time to discuss three items (succession planning, a policy update, and an operational change).
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•an update from Bob Miller re: the 2017 OFSAA hockey tournament here;
•further discussion re: the 2017 preliminary budget;
