Sisters Jane McLeod and Florence Hill officially will be honoured as the 2013 “Citizens of the Year” at tonight’s council meeting.
Both will attend the meeting, at which time others will speak as to why they were deserving of the honour.
The sisters also will be presented with plaques.
The council portion of the meeting, during which McLeod and Hill will be honoured, is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet first starting at 5:30 p.m., but be in-camera until 6:25 p.m.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•the renewal of janitorial contracts for 2014 for the Civic Centre, OPP office, and fire hall, the museum, Public Works, and the Children’s Complex;
•a request from the Northwestern Health Unit;
•a request from the summer hockey school;
•a recommendation re: the town’s annual appreciation dinner, as approved by the Administration and Finance executive committee;
•a report re: 501 Sixth St. W. rental property;
•a report re: financing for the 2013 Honeywell energy project;
•a report re: the 2010 capital loan term renewal;
•a recommendation re: the 2014 Vacation Guide Map;
•a report re: building permit fee proposal for 2014 user fees;
•a report re: 2014 proposed user fees; and
•a resolution from the Township of Seguin re: OPP billing model for police services.
