“Citizen of the Year” Ken Christiansen will be honoured at tonight’s town council meeting.
After rescheduling the town’s annual appreciation dinner from Nov. 30 to next June, council opted not to wait until then to laud “Kenno,” who is best known as the assistant coach of the Muskie boys’ hockey team.
There will be speeches delivered by representatives of the “Citizen of the Year” selection committee, as well as Terry Ogden, a long-time coaching associate of Christiansen.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 5:55 p.m. It will be preceded by the committee of the whole, which will meet publicly starting at 5:40.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•an appointment of a councillor to the Integrated Community Sustainability Steering Committee;
•a recommendation re: a request to start at Fort Frances Community Foundation;
•a report re: submission of expression of interest under Phase II of the Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative Capital Program;
•a recommendation re: Safe Communities Rainy River District’s 2012-13 per capita request;
•a public meeting re: an application for a tax adjustment (2012) for property at 814 Scott St.;
