Time running out for municipal candidates

With the deadline for filing nomination papers for the November municipal election coming up Friday, district candidates are lining up quickly.
In Chapple, all the incumbents are seeking re-election, including Bill Clink as reeve.
Couns. Mark Hyatt (Ward 1), Rilla Race (Ward 2), Peter Van Heyst (Ward 3), and Rick Neilson (Ward 4) also have filed to run again, but so far no challengers have stepped forward.
In Alberton, incumbent John Milling was the only declared candidate for reeve as of press time last night (with Coun. Bill Morrison having withdrawn), while Couns. Doug Mitchell and Mike Ford are running again for council.
Lou Collier and Cheryl McCallum also have filed for council.
In Emo, Reeve Russ Fortier is seeking another three-year term, as are Couns. Gary Judson and Harriet Sheloff. Nominations still are needed for the other two seats on council.
Meanwhile in Morley, Reeve Gary Gamsby is seeking re-election while George Heyens, Bill Romyn, Gary Jolicouer, and Ken Haw are running for seats on council.
And in La Vallee, incumbent Ken McKinnon is seeking another term as reeve, while Tom Morrish, Richard Seidel, Jim Belluz, and Freeda Carmody are running for council.
The deadline for filing nomination papers is Friday (Sept. 26) at 5 p.m.
