Tickets still left for ‘Quest’

While the fishing may not start until Thursday morning, make no mistake that the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship already is underway.
And one of the highlights, which does not involve anglers and bass but still has al-“lure” to many, is the annual “Quest for the Best,” which takes place Wednesday night under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina.
The show will start at 6:30 p.m. sharp.
Dawn Booth, longtime organizer of the popular singing contest, said everything’s falling into place.
“It’s going to be a great event,” she enthused, adding the mix of new and familiar faces should prove entertaining.
Booth also said it’s not too late to get tickets. “There’s not very many left, but there’s a few,” she noted. “They’ve been really going in the past few days.”
Booth said she expects to see the event sell-out once again, noting more than 1,200 people attended “Quest” last year.
The cost of admission is the same as last year—$12 in advance and $15 at the door (if there are any tickets still available). Tickets can be purchased at the Chamber office on Scott Street across from Safeway.
This year’s line-up, which consists of 19 soloists and three duets, includes:

•Karl Martinson—Here I Go Again (Whitesnake);
•Adrian Indian—Mama Said (Metallica);

Contestants will be vying for first-place ($500), second-place ($300), and third-place ($200) purses, as well as cash prizes for two People’s Choice, Contestants’ Choice, Most Original, and Audience Response awards.
The back-up band this year is “The Faculty.”
One thing different this year is that “Quest” will be followed by more entertainment—in this case, adult hypnotist Tyzen Paley—so those who buy a ticket for “Quest” can stay for the second show.
This show, which is “adult-oriented” and slated to start around 10 p.m., is sponsored by the FFCBC.
