Tickets still left for library raffle, social

With 20 great prizes up for grabs and an exciting evening of music, food, and dancing, tickets still available for both the “Building for the Future” elimination raffle and the “Rockin’ for the Library” social event tomorrow night.
But Fort Frances Public Library head librarian Margaret Sedgwick stressed if people want a ticket, they should get them as soon as possible because they could sell out.
“There’s definitely going to be a good turnout for the event,” Sedgwick noted, adding tomorrow night’s social will feature a ’50s theme and include a jive contest, hula-hoop contest, and prizes for the best costume.
She said she’s heard Marilyn Monroe will be stopping by, as well as several “Pink Ladies” from the movie “Grease.”
But although people are encouraged to dress up, Sedgwick stressed they aren’t required to.
“It’s going to be a really fun night,” she enthused.
The event, being held at the Memorial Sports Centre auditorium, will begin at 7:30 p.m., with music provided by the “Sensational Hot Rods.”
There also will be an hors d’oeuvres buffet open all evening, as well as a cash bar.
And, of course, the reason for the event is the drawing of the 1,000 tickets in the “elimination raffle.” It is called an “elimination raffle” because every ticket will be drawn that evening.
Tickets will be drawn in batches of 50 throughout the night, with the 50th from each batch winning the prize allocated for that batch (the winning ticket and the 49 before it will not be included in the next batch).
The prizes range from cash amounts of $10,000, $7,000, and $3,000 to a 32” LCD TV, laptop computer, gold chain, leather recliner, a home theatre system, handheld GPS, landscaping package, patio furniture, and a Nintendo Wii.
(Don’t worry—winners who are not in attendance still will receive their prizes).
The raffle tickets, which cost $50 each, are available at the Fort Frances Public Library, Fort Frances General Supply, and the Memorial Sports Centre.
Meanwhile, tickets for the “Rockin’ for the Library” event can be purchased at the library, which will be open tomorrow (Saturday) from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
