Every Thursday for the next six weeks, the Fort Frances Public Library will hold a special event for children–ranging from a morning of games to an afternoon cooking lesson.
“We have had no problem getting children to sign up for these ‘Thrilling Thursday’ events,” said librarian Margaret Sedgwick. “We have a sign-up sheet every Thurs-day where the kids can put their name if they want to be a part of the activity.
“Usually we charge a dollar or two, which is not very much to have to pay for a really great time,” she added.
With the success of last week’s “pajama party,” library worker Carleigh Pawlikowski is hard at work planning activities that children attending this Thursday’s “Winnie the Pooh Party” will be participating in.
“The children all had such a great time at the sleepover,” Pawlikowski noted. “They had a treasure hunt, parachute games, and story time.
“This Thursday, we are planning on having the same sort of things for the kids but with a ‘Winnie the Pooh’ theme,” she added.
Among the events planned include Pooh Bingo, pin the tail on Eyore, Winnie the Pooh trivia, and a treasure hunt for the hidden honey pot.
“We are also planning of having the kids make their very own bear ears that they can wear for the afternoon,” said Pawlikowski. “All the kids seem to have a wonderful time and I really like being around them.”
Children also will have the chance to sign up for the following “Thrilling Thursday” events:
•“Under the Sea” (ages six and up)–July 26;
•“Dino Daze” (ages six and up)–Aug. 2 ;
•“Kids Cook” (ages eight and up)–Aug. 9;
•“All-Star Carnival” (all ages)–Aug. 16; and
•“Step into Reading” (wind-up party)–Aug. 23
