A third occupant involved in the single motor vehicle accident that occurred last Thursday on Highway 17A near Kenora has died, the OPP reported this morning.
Jewan Kim, 17, died yesterday as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver, Soo Hyun Kim, 46, remains in hospital in serious condition, police said.
Two other family members, a woman aged 46 and a 19-year-old male, died at the scene.
Police confirmed the driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident but there was no evidence to suggest the two passengers in the rear were wearing their seatbelts.
It can not be determined at this time if the passenger in the front was wearing a seatbelt or not.
The accident occurred around 8 a.m. last Thursday when the Dodge Caravan left the highway near Jones Road for an undetermined reason.
The van struck a rock cut, causing it to catch fire.
Due to the damage, the four occupants were trapped inside the vehicle.
The accident closed the Trans-Canada for several hours.
