Therriault sentenced to six years

Joseph Francis Therriault was sentenced to six years in jail yesterday after pleading guilty to manslaughter at the Thunder Bay Courthouse in connection with the stabbing death of a local teen here July 31.
Therriault, 22, now will be transferred from the Thunder Bay District Jail to a federal penitentiary.
His sentence also included a lifetime prohibition from possessing any weapons.
Therriault originally was charged with second-degree murder after being arrested around 9 a.m. on July 31 in connection with the death of 16-year-old Nathan Edward McDonald.
McDonald was found stabbed around 3 a.m. in a residential area near 1024 Webster Ave. He was rushed to La Verendrye hospital, where was later pronounced dead.
A second person charged in connection with the stabbing, Tara George, 20, of Thunder Bay, is slated to appear in court here again Nov. 19.
She was arrested and charged with manslaughter Sunday.
